So, what is a Student Online Safety Symposium?
Symposiums are designed to educate, inform, and create an ongoing dialog about the roles that schools play in keeping students safe especially when they’re using school-issued technology and devices. Attendees engage in strategic and tactical discussions, learn more about keeping students safe, and enjoy plenty of networking opportunities.
Each symposium brings together school and district administrators and other educators responsible for student online safety. They’re not sales pitches for any product or service. In fact, we created a page of testimonials if you need to be convinced.
Symposiums already have been held in eight cities across the country, including Austin, Baton Rouge, Denver, Phoenix, Birmingham, Charlotte, Edison (NJ), and Renton (WA). Frankly, these half-day events include honest and passionate conversations about student online safety.
Even better, there’s absolutely no cost to attend a Student Online Safety Symposium as long as
you're a school or district administrator responsible for keeping students safe online. Light morning refreshments are provided as well as lunch, and all attendees are eligible to win some cool prizes at the end of each symposium, including an Amazon Echo and a Nintendo NES Classic Mini Console.
Symposiums on Student Online Safety are coming soon to California, Chicago, and Lancaster, PA. Programs at each location include a keynote from Common Sense Education, roundtable conversations, and an interactive panel discussion with educators as well as representatives from the legal profession and law enforcement.
